The best scanner that is not too expensive but works very fast is HP G4010 or the G3110.





I use the HP G4010 because i can scan legal size, slides etc... and is very fast.





I also tried the G3110 and for the money, this scanner rocks. It can even scan books LOL.

Scanners are fairly cheap. But you do need to look at compatibility with your O/S and resolution. The higher resolution is important for your type of work.





And check the program that comes with it. You may need to change it, if your illustration requires fine detail. or your publisher requires it.





Second, you may need to change format of saving file, may not be compatible to publisher. Note: publisher means user of illustration.
