Any advice about Chocolate cake with orange flavored icing?

I am making a duncan hines Butter Recipe Fudge cake. I have plain white icing. Would it be good to put a little orange extract into the icing, and use it on the cake. I have heard that chocolate and orange go good together but I dont want to ruin the cake. Has anyone ever made a chocolate and orange cake and how did it turn out.Any advice about Chocolate cake with orange flavored icing?
Sounds delicious. I love chocolate covered candied orange rinds, so the flavor of this cake would be very similar. Go for it!Any advice about Chocolate cake with orange flavored icing?
Chocolate and orange are a popular pairing, particularly when it's a sweet orange flavor and a dark chocolate. Gelato shops sell a flavor called blood orange %26amp; dark chocolate, and it's surprisingly good.

For your icing, I'd suggest using a small amount of orange extract, maybe 1/2 teaspoon to start. Since I know I like the flavor combo, I'd use about 2 tablespoons of an orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier in the icing. The liqueur has a sweet, aromatic orange note that would complement the fudge cake.
I love chocolate and orange together. I think you have a good idea. The only thing I might add is to make sure you are use pure orange extract and not imitation. Add it drop-by-drop until the flavor you want is achieved.
