I flip the switch and it makes a humming noise, but the blades won't turn. I have unplugged it, pushed the reset button under neath, and checked to see if the blades can still turn and they aren't jammed. What else could be the problem?Can anyone give me advice with a garbage disposal?
If you can turn the blades freely when the unit is off, and it does nothing but hum when you reconnect and turn it on, then the armature is shot in the motor. You'll need a new unit.Can anyone give me advice with a garbage disposal?
on the bottom of the disposal in the center is a hex key/allen wrench socket. get the correct size allen key or the tool that came with the disposal and give it a turn . if it turns easily the disposal is shot , if it is jammed up turn it back and forth and try to break it free so it spins easily
