Can criticism be considered good advice if the person is speaking the truth?

I had a long talk 2night w/ my boyfriends father. He criticized me at lot but he was speaking the truth. Can criticism be considered good advice? Can criticism be considered good advice if the person is speaking the truth?
I believe that CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is good. If we are unknowingly doing or saying something wrong and we aren't corrected, we will continue to say or do the same things over and over again.

Some people are very critical and will criticize just for the sake of criticizing!

I think more than the criticism, it's how it's done and how it's said! If it's thrown at you in anger or sarcasm or in a nasty, belittling way....whether it's true or not, it can cut to the core. If it's said in a caring, concerned, non judgemental way, I would think most people would be receptive to it. I know I amCan criticism be considered good advice if the person is speaking the truth?
Yes, as long as the criticism is constructive, it IS good advice.
sometimes
Of course it can... if what he said is true, take that and change yourself for the better.
